README.TXT FOR COMMAND ADVENTURES: STARSHIP
Thank you for purchasing Command Adventures: STARSHIP.
Because of the processing and memory requirements of STARSHIP, we
suggest that you run program in a "clean environment". This means
that your machine should be configured free of "CPU-hogging" and
"memory-grabbing" TSR's and other programs of the like.
STARSHIP requires 575K of available "low DOS" memory to run
successfully. Most machines do not have this amount of memory
available on ordinary start-up.
If you encounter memory problems in running STARSHIP (such as the game
refuses to run, or becomes eratic during play), you may need to create a
"boot-disk" with which you can boot your system. You will want to create
a disk which can boot up your system, but will bypass and not start
any of the normal TSR's that are part of your normal hard drive
auto-execution sequence.
You will need to first format a MS-DOS 5.x or 6.x system disk. (Please
see the STARSHIP Technical Reference Guide for detailed instructions.)
Now reboot your system with your newly created boot disk and go to
the hard drive partition and run STARSHIP as normal. This disk that
you will have created can be used with other programs that require a
"Clean Enviroment" to operate.
We hope you enjoy playing STARSHIP.
